HIGH POOL
This is the deepest pool on the venue but don't let that put you off as this pool probably holds the biggest fish and you don't have to go far out to the deepest depths to catch them.
Durning the warmer months the Carp are found patrolling the near ledge at around 4m to 6m out and the margins in cover and towards any spare pegs and these lines can produce an awesome day. Sport 6mm Sonubaits competition feed with corn and either corn or Sonubaits competition expander's on the hook or the Woodlands ready hookers 0.17 power line is advised as there are many double figure carp to be caught! Strong hooks pr 28's are ideal and floats up to 0.6 are ideal depending on conditions for the margins 0.1 to 0.3 your long pole line at around 13m will be your deepest line if you wish to fish the bottom at around a top four to top five kit this will cover all the pegs on this line with floats up tp 1g needed .I always put a rig up for this line but my advice would be to aim to catch shallow on this line at around two to four feet deep and use the deck rig to try and catch any fish that have followed any bait down, as high is stocked heavily with FL Carp 4mm Sonubaits competition feed and a banded Sonubaits competition 6mm feed on a hair rig are recommended pr 36 size 18's are my choice of hook for this.
Alternatively casters work really well and aren't so selective and will result in a bite a cast with Rudd Tench, Crucian Crap, Roach and the FL's falling to them floats frrom 0.1 to 0.3 are perfect. I use the Preston in line black range, used with a pr 32 size 16 hook if you do fish casters, maggots or worms on high 60 to 80 lbs of small fish is achievable its your choice and an impressive net to weigh in.
As for rod and line work a waggler or pellet waggler can work well when the pool has lots of pegs in fished at around 4 feet deep with a bomb to cast over the same line this can get you into clear part of the pool all to yourself.
TIP #1 Peg back your nets to the left and right to clear in front of you.
TIP #2 Plumb in between your nets with your margin rig and find the sme depth as your margin there shouldn't be much differnce.
TIP #3 Keep dropping a few pellers or corn in between your nets and those big Carp will come looking for bait on in your match and a big weight can build in quick time.
TIP #4 On your deck lines 6mm Sonubaits competition feed is advised due to depth as you will need to get your bait down quickly.

ARLES POOL TIPS AND TRICKS
Out of all pools at Woodland View Arles has to be my favourite, simply because of the central island and manmade features can give anglers who are strong at rod and line tactics such as waggler and feeder a big advantage over there pole loving rivals.
My tip if you are lucky enough to get an island draw, is to fish an open end feeder with pre-soaked 4mm Sonubaits competition feed pellers inside the feeder and a Woodland View quickstop would be fine if you prefer to use them.
I would use this with the minimum Woodlands View hook length of 12 inches and constantly cast tight to the island on a regular basis to creat noise and build up the swim perseverance is the key to this method as it can take a while to produce but it will get stronger as others anglers leave you to it a simple 6lb Korum mainline with a float stop on the line with your feeder attached to a snap link swivel below the stop then a Korum feeder bead to complete the rig, this wll allow youto change hook lengths with ease and give you more variation pr 36 hooks tied to 0.17 power line bottoms are adcised as bites are vicious.
For the ple lines 13 to 14m will get anice flat area around the bottom of the far slope and 6m to get a nice area at the bottom of the near slope 0.3 to 0.5 rigs will take care of most of the floats sizes that are needed and top kit depth should cover most of the pool shallow fishing is excellent on Arles and a shallow rig for this line is needed due ti to the amount of Carp in the poool again 0.15 power line will be fine.
Margins are important, cover and fishing to empty pegs will produce for you as your match nears its final hour or so, strong floats 0.1 to 0.3 and again 0.17 power line is needed as lots of big Carp patrol this line.
Bait wise Arles goes really well on 4 or 6mm Sonubaits competition feed with a Sonubaits competition 4 or 6mm expander on the hook or even the on Woodland hookers used in conjuction with corn but if you want to target tthe smaller fish in the lake the maggot casters and worms approach can keep the bites and fish coming all day and 60lb weight of fish other than Carp is common on Arles.
TIP #1 Get on that feeder line you can win without picking up your pole.
TIP #2 Regular casting and perseverance will get you more fish.
TIP #3 If you are catching a small fish a cast, stay with them Carp will follow.
TIP #4 Add a little Sonubaits red bait paint to your feed to create a cloud as your feeder falls through your peg.

HAY AND BARLEY POOLS TIPS AND TRICKS
With Hay and Barley only being used in matches and the break between them sometimes being a week the sport is excellent on these two pools, heavily stocked with carp. It is no surprise that the Fish O'Mania qualifier has twice been won from these pools.
Due to the amount of carp in the pools the ways in which I approach them have to be positive, a feeder to the far bank and pole in margins, 4 m on the bottom and 13m to 16m shallow all can be winning methods if you are positive.
For the feeder I use a slightly different set up to when I fish Arles, Korum 6ib mainline fished with an in line open end feeder running down to a Korum feeder bead to again allow me to vary my hook lengths, the in line feeder lets me get in closer to the far bank when casting. This is important on these pools as the far ledge can be narrow in places and I want to be fishing on top of it. The bait side of things is the same as Arles Sonubaits competition 4 mm in the feeder and 6mm Sonubaits competitions on the hook or even corn or woodlands ready hookers for a change of hook baits; all rigged again with either a quickstop of band and pr 36 hooks again to 0.17 power line hook lengths.
Pole lines are kept simple 4m down the near ledge in throwing range! This lets me keep feeding my lines when fishing the feeder or shallow with ease, feeding 6mm Sonubaits competition feed positve again as small fish aren't what's needed to win on these pools with 8mm woodland read hookers or 6mm Sonubaits competition expander on the hook with pr 28's and floats 0.3. - 0.6 being used and 0.17 to 0.15 power line.
For the margins I use the same attack just smaller floats 0.1 to 0.2 fished to any cover if possible again in throwing range.
For the shallow line I again use my favourite Preston black in line floats in 0.1. to 0.3 I get less tanlges when I fish shallow in Hay and Barley. WIth these floats I like to flick them right over to create slap on the surface to attract the fish in between feeding, 6 mm Sonubaits competition feed and again banded on the hook with size 18 pr 36's. I constantly feed this line with 4 pellets all match gives fish more confidence when I'm on my other lines, I also like to fish a longer line from my pole to float so that the carp don't spook under my pole tip.
As an alternative to the feeder pellet waggler can win but Hay and Barley are situated at the highest point on the complex so wind can play a part in your choice of method for the far bank.
Tip 1 Keep your pole lines in throwing range to kep a steady flow of bait going in to your peg.
Tip 2 THrowing bait will create noise and bring in more fish.
Tip 3 Use the in line feeder to get closer in to the far bank
Tip 4 Long line to your float when shallow fishing the carp do get a litle pole tip shy
My favourite pegs
Hay and Barley any peg because you can win from all pegs if you are positive with your feeding!
Hope this helps good luck and enjoy your day at Woodlands!
