Hay and Barley Pools
Situated back-to-back with each other, Hay Pool and Barley Pool are known affectionately to Woodland View regulars as 'The Twins'. Both are canal-type lakes about three-quarters of an acre in size and hold 20 pegs each. Fishing on both lakes is from only one side of each to prevent anglers 'sword fencing' with each other!
Hay and Barley are about 20 metres wide which makes them ideal for fishing the pole and both hold mainly small carp from 8oz to 4lbs with some going to 8lb, plus some small tench, skimmer bream, perch and roach.
Like Ghost Pool, Hay and Barley are not available to pleasure anglers and are used only for high profile contests. They are fed daily when not being fished which may account for why many anglers record their personal best here. Anglers fishing Hay and Barley invariably use the pole with three or four sections being long enough because it is unnecessary to fish far out. Most popular baits are again meat, sweetcorn and Woodland Wonder pellets.
